Statens Serum Institut (SSI) is a State Research Institute serving Public Health in Denmark. The Dept of Bacteriology deals with primary diagnostics of infectious diseases and has a year long tradition in research in enteric pathogens and vaccine development. The department has extensive expertise in characterisation, identification and taxonomy of bacteria and is a WHO International Reference Centre for a number of bacteria relevant for this study.
