Plasma and Serum
Blood samples are collected at age 6 and 18 months of age.
Total-IgE level was determined by ImmunoCAP (Phadia) [1] with a detection limit of 2kU/L.
Specific-IgE level against 15 of the most common inhalant and food allergens (cat, dog, horse, birch, timothy grass, mugwort, house dust mites, moulds, egg, milk, fish, wheat, peanut, soybean, shrimp) was determined by ImmunoCAP (Pharmacia Diagnostics AB, Uppsala, Sweden)[1].
Levels of specific IgE =>0.35kU/l (=> RAST class 1) are considered indicative of allergic sensitization.
